Cube Architects was engaged by the South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA) to design and document to Planning submission a block of Housing Trust flats on a triangular site in Brighton. The original brief called for 6 units however Cube soon saw the opportunity to increase the yield comfortably to 8 units which was endorsed by SAHA. The two-storey design of ‘walk-up’ flats incorporates Universal Design units to the ground floor and Gold Level (DLA) units to the upper floors. A large regulated eucalyptus tree had to be accommodated as well as the client’s requirement of concealed carparking.
